I have been a regular attendee at Country Thunder, but am looking for something more family friendly. Is there alcohol served at this event ? Is there camping allowed ? Would children aged 10-15 be acceptable ?
Thank you.

Cari,
I have been going to SSC for 12 years now and my kids have been with me and my wife for all 12 years. We started coming when the kids were 4 and 3. There is alcohol served but it is in a controlled area that is for the drinkers. There is a whole section that is just for non drikers. I hope that you will come and check this show out and know that you will have a great time.

Star Spangled Celebration is definitely family friendly. We have a beer garden for those who wish to drink - no hard liquor by city ordinance. That side is controlled at a gate where security officers check IDs. No alchoholic drinks are allowed to be taken out of that area. All fans have access to the alcohol free side of the park. SSC is held in a city park, so there is a small playground area on the grounds. If you are campers, we have a campground that is walking distance from the park. Security is present overnight at the campgrounds.
We hope you bring your family to SSC 2008!!

Hi,
Just wanted to say that we have attended County Jam for years, decided to try Country Thunder, once, that we were not satisfied with at all. So we decided to try SSC because for one it is closer to home for us, very homey, smaller area, not to mention the camping is so much better than the other Festival’s we have been to. I should say that last year was our first year at SSC and we were very impressed all the way around. Needless to say, we ARE coming back this year, and probably will every year from now on.

Hi,
I have been going to SSC since it began. Many years ago. The only thing I would tell parents of small children is to have them wear ear plugs the music is loud and babies really shouldn’t be there. It’s a great community festival and I would encourage everyone to attend.

I have been to every SSC except one. It is the BEST family event on all of Country Music in my humble opinion. Fan FAir in Nashville (I attended 6 years in a row) was also a great family event when it was held at the State Fair Grounds and Opryland was still operating. But Nashville has now become a yuppie oriented city and there is nothing for children to do anymore. I am going to Dollywood this summer so will get a chance to see how that park/shows are for families.
